Why X Videos Won't Download (and What to Do)
The most common reasons an X (Twitter) video can't be downloaded — private accounts, deleted posts, sensitive media and rate limits — and how to fix them.
Most failures have a simple cause. Here is what each message means.
The account is private
Posts from protected accounts are only visible to approved followers, so they cannot be downloaded. Only public posts are supported.
The post has no video
The link may point to a text post, an image, or a reply under a video. Open the post itself and copy its link from the Share menu.
The post was deleted
If the author deleted the post or the account was suspended, the video is no longer available on X.
Sensitive content
Posts marked as sensitive can require logging in to X. These can’t be downloaded without an account, and we don’t ask for yours.
“Try again shortly”
X occasionally limits how many requests it answers. Wait a minute and try again.
